Exploring Florida's Active Communities
Florida is hard to beat for retirement living, especially this time of year. The average January high temperature in its northernmost city, Jacksonville, is 64; in Miami the average Jan. high is 76.  The sun shines most days so outdoor activities are a pleasure. The Sunshine State has no income tax, and property tax increases are restricted thanks to Homestead protections for full-time residents. In today's newsletter we present you with a very small sample of some interesting active communities in this very large state - you can find more in our Florida Directory.

Earlier this week we listed Nocatee as a new master-planned town in the New Urbanism style. Riverwood at Nocatee by Del Webb is one of many neighborhoods within Nocatee, but this is one is designed for active adults 55+.  You will find an attractive clubhouse, Discovery Center, pools, fitness center, tennis, and more. Its single family, coach homes, and condominiums adjoin the 2,400 acre Nocatee Preserve.

This new community in Boynton Beach features a massive 31,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with multiple pools, specialty rooms, tennis and more. Homes have luxury touches like granite countertops. One of several communities developed by GL Homes, Valencia Reserve is a Showcase Listing at Topretirements.

Because Florida has a been a retirement destination for so long there are many communities completely owned and managed by the home owners.  Harbor Cove Resident-Owned Community is a good example.  Here you get plently of amenities including a 90 slip marina and community center. Most homes are available for way less than $100,000.
